Blogging for the Medley Magazine has been a great experience. As a student who has experienced the cultures of Canada, Korea, and the United States, I knew what it was like to be “multicultural.” I wanted to relay my thoughts and feelings of my multicultural identity to my blog posts for Medley.
I always had conflicting thoughts about my identity. I am so assimilated into the American culture that sometimes I grew uncomfortable with the mores in my native homeland, Korea. Why do the Koreans have to act like that? Why do the Koreans have to think and judge like that? I have to admit I was more accustomed and comfortable with the American way of living than that in my own home culture. These thoughts were conflicting to me because I felt like I should be proud of my heritage. Medley was a great opportunity for me to explore these feelings and think about my identity.
So long Medley!
